Content of the Webinar
The aim of this course is to show how we can see children in the dental practice less as a stress factor and more as a real enrichment in everyday dental practice. So that we can have fun and even if it becomes apparent that the child could be a "tricky nut to crack". We have to try to bring calm into the daily practice routine. A child who supposedly doesn't want to help can cause quite a lot of unrest. This must be avoided. In order to understand what makes children tick, participants should be given an insight into the somewhat different way children think so that they can respond better to them. To this end, the basics of behavior management, an insight into the psychology of learning and an overview of developmental psychology are of great importance. Participants receive tips and tricksfor working with young patients in an age-appropriate way.
  • How do I adapt my communication behavior to the child's needs?
  • What approaches can I use to win over the child and parents?
  • What role do the practice design and the practice team play?
  • What tools are available to overcome barriers and distances to the child?
  • How do I gain the child's attention and what methods are there to distract the child from what is happening in the mouth during treatment?
  • And what role do the parents play in this context and how can we get them on our side so that we can function as a team in the best possible way?
We also take a closer look at children's defiant behavior to understand why it happens and what ways and means there are to avoid it as far as possible. And if it does happen, how best to react.

Highlights:
  • Basics and techniques of non-pharmacological behavior management
  • Insights into children's learning behavior and developmental psychology
  • Fundamentals of age- and developmentally appropriate communication
  • Parenting styles and influences on child development
  • Understanding and dealing with children's defiant behavior
