Content of the webinar Gingival recession defects are an esthetic problem for many patients and can lead to hypersensitivity and root caries. Plastic-aesthetic periodontal surgery enables reconstruction of the lost soft tissue when indicated and helps to improve the esthetic and functional soft tissue conditions. Today, we have a wide range of surgical techniquesand biomaterials at our disposal. In practice, however, the question often arises as to whether and with which technique surgical coverage of recessions is possible. In this lecture, an overview of the most important procedures for surgical coverage of recessions will be given and current developments, such as the use of soft tissue replacement materials, will be discussed and critically evaluated.
