Content of the seminar Digital procedures are becoming increasingly important in dentistry. This trend is being driven by the use of intraoral scanners, among other things. Intraoral scanners are currently undergoing rapid development and the number of manufacturers of such systems is also increasing. This presentation will outline the current status of intraoral scanners and their possible future prospects. Furthermore, the advantages of intraoral scanners for other applications in dentistry in addition to CAD/CAM procedures will be discussed. The consideration of individual morphological and functional aspects in both restoration design and functional diagnostics, which enable many new conceptual approaches and simplify and improve conventional processes, should be emphasized. The early detection of periodontal, occlusal and functional changes is also increasingly coming into focus thanks to new precise monitoring procedures. The lecture will provide an overview of current digital concepts and highlight the prospects for dental practice.
